Band Bio's

The pictures and stories that follow are true in the fictional sense of the word. As members of ONE NITE ONLY recount their past lives, just remember that these tales of the ONE NITE ONLY members are for their enjoyment as much as yours. You know, sometimes it's peculiar how different people remember different things about people, places & things. Hope you  enjoy the fabrications of our lives........

Marty Tully...

Marty started playing guitar at age 16 with friends from High School. All were influenced by the Beatles. Prior to moving to Red Bluff, Marty’s interest in music shifted to a love of Blues. He has played with several bands and venues in the Bay Area. Once, in Red Bluff Ca., Marty met bilcrook who introduced him to the blacktopblues Society and The One Nite Only Band.Marty has been playing with The One Nite Only Band for the last 5 years, as a lead guitarist, plus playing in and around Tehama County. He has also played with several other local bands in the area.

Tom Stiles...
Attended West Elizabeth Pennsylvania, Jones School, 1958.  On a typical Saturday, the guys are playing baseball and I'm going in for a trumpet lesson with Mr. Ward, then home to practice for a half hour,I make it back to the school for the third or forth game, to catch a little of the game.... Played trumpet through grade school, high school and during a stint in the armed service, attended the Yuba College Jazz Workshop with the Mr. Howard Johnson. Played with several bands and drifted thru many music genre's over the years.  Worked on occasion for a living, mostly to kill hunger pains. Tom's influences include, Clifford Brown, Clark Terry & Louis Armstrong to name a few. To Me Music is Not a Hobby but a Way of Life....

Guitar, Keys & Vocals
The "Born in Chicago in 1956 Kid", bil was born in Chicago '56, it was the first year of school, the family moved from the Windy City to the San Joaquin Valley, growing  up on the 60' & 70's streets of the "South Side" of Stockton Ca., it was a virtual ethnic melting pot, centrally located near the San Francisco Bay Area, bil listened to the music of that area, carrying with it, a solid blues beat, mixed with some jazz/rock/fusion, planted the seeds of what the One Nite Only Band evolution is about today. bil started to play with other aspiring musicians in the barrio neighborhood where he grew up. They played latin beats, oldie's from the 50's, folk & blues tunes that were piped in from the young days of FM radio and from various 4 track & 8 track devices of the day. Inflenced by many, including the Beatles,Chuck Berry,Eric Burdon, Bo Diddley,Albert King, Albert Collins,Neil Schon, Richie Havens, Elvin Bishop,Tower of Power, Paul Blackketter, John Lee Hooker, Santana, Bob Dylan, Missisippi Fred McDowell, Lightning Hopkins, Bonnie Raitt, Jimi Hendrix, Bill Perry, Neil Young, Buddy Miles, Tommy Castro, Guitar Shorty, Jerry Short,Taj Mahal, Spyro Gyra, The Rippingtons, The Yellow Jackets and too many to recall at this point in time.   Many High School, Garage, Jam & Show Bands bands later, The One Nite Only Band has grown into the kind of band that can turn any party, function, fundraiser or festival in to an instant Success....from groove tunes to funk, rock, jazz/fusion...bil has managed to keep the band in the groove whether he is playing blazing guitar licks or luscious keyboard fills to sand papered vocals worn smoothe thru the years....

Jim Haydon...

Jim evolved from a long line musicians. Family Bands were with Uncles when Jim was kid. Coffee shops and Bars followed High School bands from place to place. Picked up the Bass and played thru College. Hit the Road for a few years, ending up in Kansas City, spotted a beat up ol' trombone (OLDS AMBASSADOR)hanging on a wall @ a Jam, tried it, bought it on the spot and have been having fun ever since.... He is also the bands transcriber of the Scrolls....
